Reminders for your big day

During that last month of planning, there are a lot of “to do’s” that hit all at once, making it easy to overlook some of the important items for your big day. When we work with couples, we help develop their timeline for the day of and we make sure they have the little details covered. We often find little things that people forgot about or need to be reminded of, so today we dive into our top 5 reminders for couples!

Eating is a must

As we spoke about in our Emergency Kit blog post, it is great to have snacks on hand for your big day, but just snacks won’t cut it. Be sure to make food plans (likely breakfast and lunch) for you and your wedding party for while you are getting ready. If you are taking transportation to the ceremony, then to photos and then finally to the cocktail hour, you may also want to stock your vehicle with some snacks and beverages.

Your details are important

Your wedding dress is beautiful and you probably spent a lot of money on it, so make sure it isn’t photographed on a plastic hanger! Bring a special hanger that says Bride or Mrs. With your future last name. You can find these all over Etsy for a small price that goes a long way. Be sure to have all of your details ready for when your photographer arrives so that they can photograph them. Detail shots have become some of our favorite photos from photographers. These include items such as: your invitation suite, jewelry, perfume, shoes, extra ribbon from bouquets, rings (yours and your fiancés!), etc. Be sure to ask your florist to send a few extra stems for these shots!

Assign someone for your valuables in advance

Make sure you have someone who can hang onto your purse, phone and room key during the night. You’ll also want to assign someone to take your guestbook and card box at the end of the night. While venues often pack up your belongings for you and get them to your hotel room or store them overnight, they often do not want to be responsible for these two extremely valuable items. It’s best to ask a close friend or family member to get them where they need to go.

Build in extra time

And more extra time! You can never have enough down time because things always tend to take longer than you think! Hair and makeup can run over because of extravagant do’s or even because of extra touch ups. Photos can easily be delayed because there are a lot of people to gather and you may need to walk from location to location. You’d much rather have time to relax before your ceremony and sip on some champagne with your wedding party than be running around until the last minute.

Your Envelopes

If you would like to tip your vendors, prep your envelopes in advance! We’ve seen so many couples trying to do this while they are getting ready which is stressful and also takes away from the fun they are having with their closest friends. Prior to your wedding day, label your envelops with the vendors name, put your tip inside and seal it. Give the envelopes to someone that you trust who isn’t going to be drinking too much that night and can distribute them. They do not even have to wait until the end of the night to give them out.
