Top Reminders for Couples

Photo by Lauri for Emily Wren Photography

When we kick things off with our couples we like to go through a detailed list of questions about their plans for their big day. While going through our checklist, there are often items that surprise couples whether they are things that they haven’t thought of or didn’t even realize. Today we dive into our top 5 reminders for couples!

Eating is a must

As we spoke about in our Emergency Kit blog post, it is great to have snacks on hand for your big day, but just snacks won’t cut it. Be sure to make food plans (likely breakfast and lunch) for you and your wedding party for while you are getting ready. You all have a long day ahead of you and need some fuel!

Bringing a special hanger for your wedding dress

Your wedding dress is beautiful and you probably spent a lot of money on it, so make sure it isn’t photographed on a plastic hanger! Bring a special hanger that says Bride or Mrs. With your future last name. You can find these all over Etsy for a small price that goes a long way.

Assign someone for your valuables in advance

Make sure you have someone who can hang onto your purse, phone and room key during the night. You’ll also want to assign someone to take your guestbook and card box at the end of the night. While venues often pack up your belongings for you and get them to your hotel room or store them overnight, they often do not want to be responsible for these two extremely valuable items. It’s best to ask a close friend or family member to get them where they need to go.

Something special for your significant other

It’s easy to get bogged down in your planning and forget this one, but we always find it very romantic. You don’t need to do anything over the top, after all, you did just spent a lot of money on your wedding. Something as simple as a card will suffice. They can be sent via a friend while you are each getting ready. Be sure to wait until the photographer has arrived to open your card for gift so that they can capture the moment!

Build in extra time

And more extra time! You can never have enough down time because things always tend to take longer than you think! Hair and makeup can run over because of extravagant do’s or even because of extra touch ups. Photos can easily be delayed because there are a lot of people to gather and you may need to walk from location to location. You’d much rather have time to relax before your ceremony and sip on some champagne with your wedding party than be running around until the last minute.
